01 Dec A Homemade Garland
I am so super proud of my Christmas creation, I can’t quite believe just how amazing it looks! And do you know what confirms this? Farmer Ben is totally impressed by it and really likes it himself… And he is miserable 98% of the time so this is huge!
For years I’ve looked for a nice Christmas garland but I’m so fussy that I couldn’t find one. The ones I liked were far to expensive and the ones I’d have been happy paying for were, well… Crap! So this year I’ve been feeling that extra surge of creativity and thought I’d give it a go myself! I honestly didn’t expect for one minute for it to look so classy as I’m really not good at this sort of thing normally and have zero patience.
I bought 4 9ft plain garlands from Amazon and put two together, so that I had a thicker garland. Once they were fuller I tied them both together to make an 18ft garland and attached them onto to the stairs using pipe cleaners.
I took a trip to Home Bargains and picked up everything else I needed… Two light up large bows for the top and bottom pilars, some big baubles, a mixture of small & medium sized baubles, some small bows and of course, some bells! I came away with about 5 boxes for under £10!
With the baubles in place (glued on using a glue gun) it was time to add the little extras to the staircase. First I tied some felt and wooden decorations from Waitrose that went in between every other spindle and then there was only one thing left – the rustic ‘Christmas’ bunting to finish off this perfect staircase.
I hope you like it as much as me, I adore it and never want to take it down!
Tis the season to be jolly! Let me know what you think by posting a comment below 😊
